DIRECTOR

ROCKLAND COUNTY OFFICE FOR THE AGING

The County of Rockland is seeking a candidate to serve as Director of the Office for the Aging. The work is detailed and complex in nature and requires thorough knowledge of the needs and interests of older adults.

Job Description: The Director is responsible for developing and administering an area plan for programs on aging. They will research, evaluate and assess the needs of older individuals and develop proposals and alternative approaches for meeting these needs through the coordination of services of the Office for the Aging with other community agencies.

The Director will supervise a variety of administrative and programmatic functions (budgeting, finance, personnel and purchasing) to ensure compliance with all appropriate regulations for disbursement of federal and state aid and grant funding.

The work is performed under general administrative direction from the County Executive in conformance with local, State, and Federal laws, rules and regulations with wide latitude allowed in the administration of the overall program. Supervision is exercised over a number of professional, technical, and clerical employees.

Required Qualifications:

  1. A Master’s degree in Social or Behavioral Sciences, Public Health, Public Administration, Recreation, Education, Business Administration, Finance, or comparable curriculum and two (2) years of full-time paid administrative or supervisory experience in a community organization or the field of aging, or

 

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Social or Behavioral Sciences, Public Health, Public Administration, Recreation, Education, Business Administration, Finance, or comparable curriculum and four (4) years of full-time paid administrative or supervisory experience in a community organization or the field of aging.

 

Other Requirements and Information: This is a non-competitive position appointed by the County Executive and requiring the confirmation of the County Legislature.

Salary and benefits are competitive with the public sector market including but not limited to the following:

  • Annual Salary range of $101,426 - $126,310
  • 40 Hour work week
  • Medical, Dental and Vision
  • Time off including vacation, personal and holiday time
  • New York State Pension eligibility
