The Schoharie County Department of Public Works is seeking qualified candidates for the position of
DEPUTY COMMISSIONER OF PUBLIC WORKS - ADMINISTRATION (Full-time OR Part-time)


Starting Salary: Full-time – $62,590/year; Part-time – $31.85/hour


This is a demanding administrative, supervisory, and field-oriented position responsible for the coordination and execution of the CHIPS program, general DPW services and seasonal DPW activities amongst the subdivisions of the department. Duties are performed under the general supervision of the Commissioner with wide leeway to exercise independent judgement. Incumbent serves at the pleasure of the Commissioner and serves jointly with the Deputy Commissioner of Public Works-Engineering in the Commissioner’s absence. Supervision may be exercised over subordinate personnel. Does related work as required.

COMMISSIONER’S PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
(A) Associate’s degree or higher in Construction Technology or a closely-related field; and three (3) years of full-time professional experience involving the administration, planning, review and inspection of road-construction projects; one (1) of which must have been in an official supervisory capacity; OR
(B) High school diploma or equivalent; and five (5) years of experience as outlined in (A); one (1) of which must have been in an official supervisory capacity.
