Supporting Working Caregivers
We all know that finding and retaining qualified employees is one of the biggest challenges facing both the public and private sector right now. But did you know that one of the most biggest impacts on an employees ability to remain in a job can be whether or not they are a caregiver?
There are an estimated 4.1 million caregivers in New York State. Many of these individuals are full time employees, and for many the workplace is a trusted source for information and support. If you're an employer, you should be aware that 1 in 6 employees are currently active caregivers, and support for this population can increase employee satisfaction and productivity.
Last year, 69% of employed caregivers indicated that they have experienced changes to their schedule or work related difficulties, and 10% left the workforce entirely. The cost to employers has exceeded $33.6 billion dollars and having tools available to assist caregivers can alleviate this financial impact.
