Say Cheese! It's Time for the NYSAC Photo Contest!

The month of April is National County Government Month. Along with counties throughout the state, NYSAC will raise public awareness of the robust role counties play in our communities.

In celebration, NYSAC is holding a “What Makes your County Great!” photo contest, aiming to highlight the best there is to see in NY’s Counties - from historic and scenic sights to local attractions and events.

“It’s not always easy to see the many ways county governments positively impact the lives of their residents,” said Dan McCoy, NYSAC President “We hope to shed some light on and showcase New York’s county governments.”

The contest seeks to recognize the one-of-a-kind people, places, and things that make local communities great.

To enter, simply email photos and information to NYSAC Multimedia Specialist Kate Pierce-Nimz at kpierce@nysac.org. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday April 30^th at 11:59 PM.

Five winning photographs will be chosen for publication in the summer edition of the NYSAC News magazine and featured in NYSAC’s annual “Counties in Focus” Calendar.

Qualifications:

Each submission must include

• Photo(s)
• Location (including NY county)
• Approximate date taken
• Name of photographer
• Entrant’s contact information

Photo(s) must have been taken within the past two years, and entrants are responsible for acquiring consent and/or releases necessary to permit use of photo(s) by NYSAC

You can submit any number of photos taken on any device, so long as the photos meet the qualification guidelines.

By submitting photo(s), entrants agree to grant NYSAC the right and permission to use, re-use, publish, and re-publish the photographs related to the contest; in printed and electronic publications, and in all media including illustration, promotion, art, advertising, news, informational and educational purposes.

Since 1991, The National Association of Counties (NACo) has encouraged counties across the country to raise public awareness about county roles and responsibilities during the month of April.
