Public Health Director, St. Lawrence County

St. Lawrence County is seeking an exemplary candidate to lead the Department of Public Health with a $8.4M Budget and talented staff of over 35 employees. The Public Health Director is responsible to the Board of Health for the implementation and enforcement of the State and County Sanitary Code and other public health programs, and is responsible to the County Administrator for the implementation of the financial, personnel, and administrative policies. The ideal candidate will bring knowledge and experience in exemplary public health practice, outstanding leadership, effective communication, and administrative skills. General Supervision is exercised over programs of the Health Department such as the Clinic functions, Emergency Preparedness, Maternal Child Health, Early Intervention, Lead Poisoning Prevention, Pre-School Transportation, Preventive Health, and Communicable Disease control, Immunizations, and general health promotion and education. Work location is in person.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Public Health or related field*, and two (2) years of administrative experience in a health related organization or government agency. Experience should demonstrate effective knowledge and communication skills to administer public health programs, manage staff and budget, establish and implement policy and goals, and compliance with legal requirements.
NOTE: *Related field includes; health administration, nursing, environmental health or community health education. Appointment to the Director Position is subject to approval of New York State Commissioner of Health.

SALARY RANGE: $102,890 to $127,809 w/excellent benefits package that includes health, vision, dental insurances, health buy out option, life insurance, flexible spending account, NYS Retirement, Deferred Compensation, and paid accruals for sick, vacation, personal, and compensatory.
