DEPUTY COMMISSIONER OF FINANCE

This position is located at the Steuben County Department of Finance

This is a full-time position responsible for coordinating the various accounting activities of a governmental finance department. The work involves developing, implementing and overseeing the accounting activities of the office, supervising staff responsible, and independently performing some of the more challenging public sector accounting tasks. The work involves responsibility for insuring that all accounting activities are carried out in accordance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws, regulations and policies governing local governments. The incumbent must be willing to learn new software and develop and adapt to new accounting systems and methods. This position will prepare the County financial system for audit of the annual financial statements to include end of year entries and adjustments, preparation of audit schedules and preparation of the financial statements. The work is performed under the general direction of the Commissioner of Finance. In accordance with Public Officers law and the Steuben County Charter, the Deputy Commissioner of Finance has the power and authority to act for and in place of the Commissioner in his/her absence. The employee is responsible for the direct supervision of staff of the Finance Department.

SALARY/BENEFITS

• $65,129 to $101,849 depending on experience
