Position Overview:

As County Attorney, you will play a crucial role in providing legal counsel to the County Legislature, County Administration, and various departments and advisory boards. You'll have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of legal matters, from civil litigation and contracts to land use and employment matters. Your expertise will help shape the legal landscape of Tompkins County, ensuring that our community continues to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advice and counsel to County officials and departments.
• Represent and/or identify representation for Tompkins County in legal proceedings and negotiations.
• Draft and review contracts, ordinances, and legal documents.
• Oversee the work of the Deputy County Attorney and legal support staff.
• Stay current on legal developments affecting the County.

Qualifications:

• Admission to the Bar in the State of New York and a minimum of five years of full-time experience practicing law.
•  Experience working with municipal government preferred.
• Strong communication, negotiation, analytical and management skills.
• Commitment to upholding ethical and professional standards.

Pay Rate:

• $143,270.40yr -Hire rate, $155,688.00yr Work rate after 9 months
