Ben Boykin Elected as NYSAC President
Westchester County Legislator to Lead NYSAC During its 100th Year as a Statewide Association
Westchester County Legislator Ben Boykin was elected as the 80th president of the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) during the association’s Fall Seminar conference in Sullivan County, New York. Boykin, who has served as NYSAC's first vice president since 2023, will succeed outgoing president Daniel P. McCoy, the Albany County Executive.
As president, Boykin will lead the association during its centennial anniversary, which will include celebrations at the 2025 Legislative Conference in Albany and the Fall Seminar in Niagara Falls.
"I am honored and humbled to serve as NYSAC's president during its 100th year as the only association representing the interests of New York's 62 counties at the state and federal levels,” said President Boykin. “NYSAC’s longevity is a testament to the unity it has achieved through its commitment to advocacy and education and I look forward to leading this great association as it embarks on the next 100 years of service to counties.”
Boykin has been a member of the Westchester County Board of Legislators since 2014, representing District 5, which includes White Plains, Scarsdale, and Harrison, serving as chairman of the board from 2018-2022. He currently serves as the chairman of the board's Economic Development Committee and as a member of the Legislator and Public Safety Committees.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Legislator Boykin to his new role as president of the association,” said NYSAC Executive Director Stephen Acquario. “ Ben is one of the kindest and most dedicated public servants anywhere and we’re truly lucky to have him as a leader in Westchester County and as the leader of our association during its centennial year.”
Prior to his election to the county board, Boykin had a distinguished career in finance and accounting, working for several Fortune 500 companies and serving as a board member and treasurer of various nonprofit organizations. Ben is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, receiving a B.S. in Business Administration with an accounting concentration, in 1972 and earned a master's degree in business administration from Northwestern University.
NYSAC is a bipartisan organization that represents, educates, and advocates for New York's 57 counties and the City of New York. NYSAC provides essential services to county governments and their taxpayers, including research, training, legislative advocacy, and intergovernmental relations.
