2019 County Sales Tax Update

This NYSAC report, released in 2019, provides a snapshot of county sales tax activity between 2000 and 2017. This time frame includes the Great Recession and provides baseline data leading up to the COVID pandemic – both major economic shocks. This report will be a valuable tool in measuring the impact of the COVID pandemic as additional reports are released post pandemic. The 2019 report also highlights the increasing importance of sales tax as a primary county revenue post implementation of the state-imposed property tax cap in 2012.
