The budget includes State funding for 40 percent of the increase in District Attorney salaries that will be tied to increases in State Judge’s salaries, effective April 12, 2012. Under section 183-a of the State Judiciary Law, the County District Attorney salary level is tied directly to State Judges’ pay. Accordingly, as the State Judge’s salaries increase, counties will be required to raise the salaries of their DAs. (Patrick Cummings)
